A few words from the owner of the company

Since the 1980s, LARK Toys has manufactured wooden toys for children. Two teachers, Donn and Sarah Kreofsky, began the business, making wooden toys out of their garage for their sons. LARK was first just wholesale, and then grew to be a retail destination. Additional toys, games, puzzles, books, gifts, and food were added. In the 1990s, a beautiful carousel was carved by hand out of Minnesota basswood, and beginning in 1997, visitors could ride this indoor carousel all year. A miniature golf course with waterfalls was installed as an additional attraction.

In 2008, a new family, Kathy and Ron Gray, along with their daughter and son-in-law Miranda and Scott Gray-Burlingame took over the 21,000 sq. ft. business. While keeping the spirit of the store, they contributed their own ideas and toy designs, along with store improvements and lots of color. The wooden toys live in their own special room in the store and continue to be the foundation of the business.

LARK Toys has been named Best Toy Store in Minnesota (by viewers of KTTC), one of the 10 best toy stores in the world (by Readers Digest Canada and USA Today). Visitors from across the country and around the world enjoy seeing the antique toys, riding the carousel, trying the store’s own homemade fudge, and taking home handcrafted toys, made in the workshop on site. A viewing window allows guests to get a glimpse of toy making, which is still done by hand in batches of about 30 at a time by LARK’s head toy maker and assistants.
